Furrion power inlet shock hazard

I have been getting a tingle when I plug and unplug my power cord from my trailer. It was happening when I touched the lid to the plug. The socket was a Furrion 30A with LED indicator in the flap, but I discovered something concerning when I replaced the socket:

Furrion pulled 120v power through the hinge, into the lid and used a tiny (not safely spaced) light board to drive the indicator LED. Mine filled with water and electrified the metal lid badge. Very little thought seems to have gone into this design, starting with passing 24awg wires containing 120v AC (and unfused!) through a rotating chafe point.

Interested to know if you contacted Furion and if so, what their response was.

I have reached out to Furrion via email but with the holidays I don't know how long it will take to get a reply.

LED working voltage is about 2 volts DC.

120 volts AC on a LED would burn it out instantaniously.

More than likely there is a grounding problem on your RV somewhere.
You might check and see if you have voltage present on your ground.

The circuitry to make that 2v for the LED is ON the LED board. See picture. The power is sourced directly from the pins in the socket.

The entire socket is plastic besides the plate for the LED. It can't be a grounding issue for this.

After doing some research it appears Furrion released this model as an update to a better sealed past model. The stainless badge is a neat feature but it shouldn't have been included at the cost of consumer safety. Furrion has a couple of easy ways to revise this- no metal badge, solid molded LED housing, or just no LED (which burns out very quickly).

Here's a full listing with pictures of how it looks normally.

So it has been 2 weeks and Furrion will not respond via either email or phone. Won't even acknowledge that I submitted a complaint.
