Garnet Liquid Level Gauges

We have a question regarding failure modes of the subject gauges. Has anyone experienced the reading "jumping up" too quickly given the amount of liquid going into a tank?

We had that happen on our black tank after 3 years of use. We called Garnet and they told us to clean the tank and that the Happy Camper Xtreme product works well. Also they said DON'T use Dawn kitchen soap as it leaves a scum on the tank walls that affect the sensors. We had always used plenty of water when filling the black tank, and always flushed thoroughly after dumping on full tanks only. We tried the Happy Camper Xtreme product. Filled the tank with clean water only after thorough flushing. Soaked the tank all night. Let out 30% or so and drove to our next destination. We used lots of jerky stops to slosh the tanks real good. None of that had any effect, the black tank gauge continued to jump. When it reached 35% or so, it would jump to 88%, stay there, then continue on to 100% as the tank filled.

We finally purchased a replacement sensor and tried that. As soon as we finished installing the new sensor everything worked like new again. Now, 6 months later we are seeing the same signature gauge reading jumping on the gray tank monitor. Seems to be more than a coincidence. We are wondering if anyone else has seen this type of sensor failure mode.
Thank you.

I guess we are just lucky with 2 of our 3 sensors. The fresh water tank continues to work correctly after 4 years.

When my SeeLevel sensor failed on fresh tank it flashed "OP" to indicate an open circuit. Did that for a couple of days, back and forth to OP and the % reading. I replaced the sensor and have not had any more problems.

Garnet has a couple trouble shooting guides on their website, I believe.

My sensors were the older model and the newer sensors are not compatible with the older display units.

Thanks for sharing your experience Brian. We also had a couple rounds with the OPn error too. Both were broken wires, once the ground, once the signal wire.
