We have a Weber baby Q gas grill that we take camping with us.
To eliminate the need and storage for an extra propane gas tank I want to tie into the MH LP gas tank system and use a 12' gas hose from there to the grill.
1. Has anyone done this?
2. What are the pros and cons and safety concerns?
3. Should I tee into the high pressure side of the regulator or the low pressure side?

I've been doing this since 1978. CW sells the Extend A Stay kit. I connected the kit to the high pressure side of the coach regulator. This means I get propane directly from the coach tank. Always turn the coach tank valve off when making or removing the connection. Each appliance must have its own regulator and you need enough hose to reach where ever you will be cooking.
I have also used the Extend A Stay to connect an auxilary propane tank to the coach during cold weather. If you do this keep the coach tank turned off when using the auxilary tank.
I have never had a problem or leak with the Extend A Stay.

I have a Weber Q but the larger one. I've been running mine from a 20# but I want to tie into my fixed tank. That would be safer than carrying a 20# tank in my basement compartment.
Tie into the high pressure side. You'll then be able to feed propane into the motor home from an auxiliary propane tank in a pinch. Use a quick disconnect.

I had this setup on my previous 5er and loved it. I didn't have the dealer do the work on the motorhome but I am going to. I'd rather not carry the extra weight of a 20# tank and if I want to have it away from the coach I can use a small cylinder.
Tie it in to the high pressure side of things and you should be good to go.

There are several adapters that can be used to tie into your propane syatem. CW sells the Stay Flow or the Stay-A-While kits and Marshall Brass makes Extend-A-Stay and Extend-A-Flow.
The adapter gets installed into the propane valve right off your tank and your existing piping with regulator connect right to the adapter. The adapter connects to the high pressure side of the existing regulator because gas grills have their own regulator.
I always disconnect the 12' hose from the adapter when traveling. I'm afraid the coiled hose could become abraded by something and I don't want a propane leak, especially on the high pressure side.
I, too, would rather not carry an extra 20# tank. Not only is this extra weight as Y-Guy says, but I don't have any extra room in my propane compartment to carry the spare tank. Propane should not be carried in an enclosed compartment.

This is SOUND advice....Carrying a portable cylinder should be done with <span class="ev_code_RED">EXTREME</span> caution.

I use the Baby Q with the Marshall Brass Extend-a-flow device. Works very well. I also disconnect the 12' hose and store it away while moving. The adaptor is easy to install on the LP tank outlet.

My Weber Baby Q arrives tomorrows. I'd like to go ahead and get the right adapter to install on the MH propane tank. I don't suppose anyone has a photo of their setup by chance? I'm a very visual person when it comes to mods.

Thanks Gary that does help me understand how and where you hooked it up. Was there a different brass fitting in the location of the Extend A Stay is now, or did you have to move things? I looks pretty straight forward, sort of plug in and play.

Are the Extend a Stay and Extend a Flow two different things, or can they be used either way?

I moved the coach regulator (under the grey plastic cover on the right). Other than that is was like you said, plug and play.
I did need to visit my local propane accessory shop to get some adapters. I needed hoses longer than I could find at CW.

I do not know about Extend A Flow. I purchased an Extend A Stay when CW sold them. I think they now sell Extend a Flo.
