GE Refrigerator model 22 problem

Water dispenser and ice maker are not getting water. Had GE send repairman while under warranty who put a heater on the line. By the time I used MH warranty is over and it still doesn't work.
I can hear the solenoid working but still no water. I'm pretty sure I have 20#s or more of water pressure.
Any ideas ?

Thanks

Check to see if you get power to solenoid for water dispenser when the cradle is pressed. If so then check to see if the valve is actually opening by checking the out put side of the valve (water should flow) by removing the water line.

I was hoping I wouldn't have to pull out the unit. It's mounted up off the floor about 3" so I will have to block it up some how.

thanks

Look for a water line valve that may be under kitchen sink or you may have an outside access door behind the refrigerator.

Today I decided to pull the refrigerator out and see if I had water flow past the solenoid. Low and behold when I got down to look under the unit there was the water tube that goes to the door in two pieces. It had come apart at the splice fitting for when they install the door. Water dispenser works now although it will take a couple days with a fan to dry out the floor.
Now for the ice maker I ran a hair dryer to unfreeze the incoming line like I have to do every 3 weeks. Won't know till tonight if it works.

thanks for the help

If you are having to use a hair dryer to thaw out the ice maker water line, you more than likely have a weeping water valve on the refrigerator. To fix it, you will have to replace the water valve(s).

Water will stay in the line at all times.

If freezing then some help is needed.

Creativity...

First get a Dayton temperature switch, these have a coil of tubing that is the temperature sensor and a know to set temperature.

They can handle 20 amps current.

Next get a couple light sockets and bulbs or string of old style Christmas lights or a very small heater.

Place the sensor in the back along with the lights and set it for 33 degrees.

When it gets cold lights come on and warm the area.

If area is sealed from outside then a small computer fan to blow air up behind unit also can work.

The weeping water valve makes sense but I can't see any water flow between cycles. Book suggests that the freezer temp might be too low so trying that first then probably a small fan blowing air up the back. Probably a nickel's worth of insulation would have prevented this problem.

thanks for the help
