Generac Quietpac 75D generator belt adjustment

Hello all,
Looked throughout the internet and couldn't find a really good way to
adjust the generator drive belt on the quietpac 75d. Mine wouldn't run the ac and the micro at the same time. Power drop off , etc could hear the belt squeal. So with the help of the maintenance manual and proceeded to start the process with out dropping it out the bottom of the rv and disconnecting everything.
1. remove the front cover , easy job.
2. remove the top cover , not easy.. lay on ground , slither underneath the
mh reach up and remove 5 bolts couldn't reach from the front.
3. remove the antifreeze overflow tank .
4. the tensioner should be in view.
5. loosen the bolt and tighten the bracket to between 0 and 15 Deg.
6. belt should be tight and not be able to turn the tensioner idler wheel by
hand.
7. install covers in reverse order, run generator . great success !

you went to alot more work then I do on a 75D.
I just remove the front panel, using an open end 3/4 for the welder tube on the shaft. Another 3/4 ratchet box wrench on the bolt head.

Just to be clear, are you saying you can do this necessary adjustment by just removing the front panel only?

yes sir. That is what I am saying. Use a long handle for the 3/4 open end wrench for the welded tube.

THANK YOU! and thanks for the attachment. I find it easier to take that front panel off to change the oil, fuel, and air filters but haven't had any need yet to adjust the belt. It does "squeal" a bit at initial start-up then the squeal goes away quickly.

Watch for the screws on the left side. Very sharp. Old man skin. By the way, in our Alfa group we are very good Generac mechanics

Thanks for this info on adjusting the drive belt.
I'm in the process of replacing both belts (drive belt and the 'green belt', which broke). It's a major pain to get at all of the cover bolts. The frame they built to hold the genny is right up against a lot of the cover bolts. The covers do have to come off in order to replace the belts, correct?

I looked under the Owners Forums on iRV2 and COULD NOT find the Alfa owners group.
I'm having some real "issues" with my Generic 75D. Had the unit taken out of the RV in July, 2018, replaced both belts, pullies, idlers, exhaust from header to muffler and the oil sensor. It ran fine for about 10 hours. Spend an additional $600 on labor and replaced the oil sensor again plus some electrical component behind the panel with the start/stop, preheat and hour meter. It ran fine for about 3 hours. Now, it won't even turn over. The latest mechanic doesn't think the starter is getting enough voltage to turn it over.

Had the same problem with starting. It would just make a klunk noise and not turn over, this is after I installed another 12 volt battery next to it . I had ordered a new starter earlier and decided it was time to change it out. Difficult job but doable. Starts everytime. Old starter brushes were so short and worn it wouldn't spin the stsrter.

THANKS Zapper58. I've got 48xx hours on the generator. Should have bought and installed one when it was out of the rig. Thought about adding a 12V battery up front by the gen set to see if that would resolve this "issue" but you already tried it so my focus will be on the new starter first and go from there.

Amazon , $100 for the starter. Look up the starter part number in the generator parts book and search.

WOW! Thanks for the heads-up on the starter. I've been buying my parts from Schwalm Parts, with the exception of one radiator hose, they've always had what I've needed for the 75D and Wes has been very helpful walking me through some of the projects I've tackled on my own.
