"I thinking it will run better and cooler with synthetic oil."

Did someone tell you that ?

If it's running bad, it's not the oil.

If it's overheating, it's not the oil.

If your not going to extend your oil change interval, which you shouldn't, unless you are using it full time, then why spend more money on oil.

IMO, just use what the book says and change it when you should.

Gen

My Gen has been running fine except after sitting for a few weeks takes longer to start.
I have ordered new plugs and air filter.
I have for the last 20 years have been using
synthetic oil in my cars trucks and RV and been very happy with it.
I read that synthetic oil does a much better job at very low temp and very
high temp than regular oil.
So when returning to my home in Florida from NY this past Sept and it being so very hot did run the Gen non stop in this extreme hot weather and was thinking that maybe it may be better to start using Synthetic oil and already using in my Ford gas motor.
I did own 1994 Pace Arrow with a 454 chevy that I purchased used with about
10,000 miles on it and used synthetic oil in both the 454 and the Onan 7 kw Gen
and never needed to add oil in between oil changes.
To me oil is one of the cheapest parts of owning a car truck RV or boat.
Just my thing.

Got a 2001 5500 Onan Marquis Gold. Has about 1200 hours on it. Can I change it to synthetic oil like Mobil 1 when I change the oil? What weight oil should I use 10W40???

You may wish to check a maintenance manual for your 5500 Onan as it reflects SAE30 as well as 15W40 10w30 10w40 and 5w30 all based on temperature

Hi guys just a quick question, would it be better for the generator is if after I pulled my slide-out out, to open the generator door? Would the extra air flow make a difference? I'm just trying to expand the lifetime of the generator. I've got a 4000 Watt Onan in a 2007 Dynamax. Thanks for your time.

Gen

When it’s very hot yes I open Gen door for more Air but be carful
where the fumes are going and exhaust too.
I have hook up of exhaust that has piping to let exhaust go up over
the top of roof and it is very good no worries exhaust going into MH.

Tried that link

Strange, saw your reply that came to my email via forumn page. But could not find link here.
I guess the manual has to be found on ebay or something. This one is too old to find online.

But really appreciate all your help.
