Year/Make/Model of your RV? Your can add that to your signature which makes it easier for others to know your setup and provide help.

What is the actual issue? Won't start? Starts then stops? Other?

Generator make and model? If an Onan (most are) there will be fault codes on the control panel that will indicate the reason for the last fault.

I did a quick Google look for "onan service center phoenix" and came up with several, including this RV dealer in Mesa...there are likely several others:

Thanks. I updated my profile...

It's an Onan 4K BGE spec M. I doubt that makes a difference on a generator repair shop... BTW it won't start. It has spark and fuel. It turns over so S L O W L Y that it won't ignite. Seems like the flywheel is near frozen.

Anyone, including me, can do a search as you did. Don't know about you, but picking a shop in the dark can/has lead/led to ripoffs.

That's why I asked for recommendations. Anyone have any in the area that they have survived?

Thanks.

Agree on shops...I have a low trust in any RV dealer service facility. If you don't get any responses here you may have to go fishing yourself (and then YOU can recommend/not recommend a shop!!!).

There may be Cummins service centers nearby (Cummins owns Onan), but they will likely be more expensive than other service options.

When was the last time it ran normally?

Good luck...following to see how this turns out.

we used the cummins service center in avondale. while it primarily services the huge truck diesel engines they have, or had, a guy that was totally dedicated to onan generators.

Thanks. They get $300 minimum for diagnostic. THAT does not go towards the repair costs...

wow! i had no idea of that type of cost! our was repaired under warranty.

there are other cummins authorized repair shops in the phoenix area. a quick web search will get you some names. and many of these have mobile repair capabilities.

best of luck!

I've now left voice mails for three "mobile" mechanics since my last post. Not one of them has returned the phone call...
I did get an appointment three weeks out with a garage.

At least you are in Phoenix, a large metro area. Lots of options. But you might as well get your mind around a large repair bill. We usually use mobile techs recommended by RV park staff. But we also know it will cost more to use mobile.
Personally, I would of gone with the Avondale option if they could get me in soon. Might cost more up front, but sounds as if your chances of getting it fixed are good there.
Just depends on how long you want to be without your generator.
On another note, some of our friends with older RVs were faced with very large costs to repair or replace their built-in Onan. They chose to spend considerably less and bought portable inverter generators to use. More work to use them, but sooooo much cheaper.

Here's an alternate to Onan if you need to replace it. I'd stick with Onan if possible.

Horrible advice!!!
The guys at Auto Boss RV in Mesa, AZ diagnosed the problem in 5 minutes. A bad starter. You'd have spent $300 minimum for that and still had to spend another $1000 for them to change it out. More money than brains!!!
I can do it myself or be lazy and have them do it for less than you would have paid for diagnostic.

If you use the quote option, we will know who you are replying to, unless you meant the caustic remarks for everyone.
Hey, you are the one that asked for advice from a forum......

That would be the last place I would take anything to be repaired. Imagine paying a $300 diagnostic fee to find a corroded connection on the starter motor. I wouldn't want to guess what the cost would be to remove clean and replace a battery cable connector or a corroded ground wire.
PS: I'm not saying this is your problem, just using this as an example.
I'm horrified!
