Generator Power while driving

I continue to have problems running my gen. for cooling while driving. Sometimes the ac power drops off line & the gen. remains running. The compartment where the transfer box is has a slight elec. smell but the box isn't hot. Can a strong bump cause the relays to open? The transfer box was changed under warranty but the problem continues. Other times the gen. just shuts down on its own. Restarts OK. Outside temperature was in the high 90's. I wonder if the gen's high temp. switch is shutting it down. Gen's air intakes are clear.

Are the genny breakers tripping with the first problem? If not, then I would suspect the transfer switch. Shutting down in the 90's is not that unusual under heavy load like running the ACs. Gennys can handle this and were designed too however, it's not unusual for the mfg to install them in an area which is subject to chassis heat (like near an exhaust or converter), or enclose them where they cannot get cooler outside air and are sucking hot air from under the coach, where there is road and chassis heat.

OK time for a little preventative maintenance. Stop the generator, turn off the inverter, and disconnect from shore power if connected. Now remove the transfer switch cover and tighten all terminals. Next go to your AC circuit breaker which should be in the bedroom. Remove its cover and again tighten all terminals.

This should be done at least once a year and it may cure your problem with the air conditioner.

X2. Seems that these terminals have a mind of their own. I have found mine less than tight more than one time. Hopefully this will help the OP with his problems.
