Generator Stops when I run over a Bump

Onan 5.5kw generator quit a few months ago with a saturated float causing flooding. Faced with a $350 Onan carburetor cost I elected to install a $50 knock off that looks identical. After adjusting the links and calibrating the system the generator works perfectly under all load conditions and stationary. BUT if I go over a big bump in the road it immediately stops but restarts again with no issues. As it has been awhile since I used the rig I forgot any trouble codes. I am not aware of any loose wiring and it started with the new carburetor. Wondering if it is the shutoff solenoid under the float chamber reacting to vibration. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem with mine shutting off in turns.

Check your oil level . . . . just a thought

You may want to check the float level in the carb

Check the ground cable between the engine and chassis..

The generator bouncing may be loosing its ground.

Generator Stops when I run over a Bump

Oil level is OK, No loose connections on ground or to the shut off solenoid. Not sure how to validate the float. Generator works well when stationary and normal driving but only fails on large bumps. Starts up immediately afterwards so vibration is the issue.
Thanks for the suggestions so far. I think I may have to install a genuine Onan carburetor that I assume is more rugged to fix the problem.

Mine was the positive battery terminal connection of the chassis battery. Why it didn't affect more than the generator I have no idea.

Generator Quits when I Run Over a Bump

I found an old post that of the same name that talks about cracked circuit boards and loose wiring. As It maybe a coincidence that it started after a carburetor replacement I will check out those ideas next.
Thank you all for your suggestions.

Would suspect the float level adjustment is maintaining the level in the bowl to barely running. Would try that first.

If the float level was that critically low, it would need to be primed to restart.

It would stall out going up or down a hill.

Loose connection somewhere. Wiggle all the wires you can reach while it's running. Chances are you will find something.

Check float adjustment

If the problem started after the carburetor replacement I would start by checking the float.

Let's walk thru this.

He hits a bump and the generator, that's turning 2800 RPMs shuts off. How fast do your generators stop, when you hit the stop switch.

If it was a float level issue, the spinning engine would restart, because the fuel pump is still running, filling the bowl and the ignition is still firing the spark plugs.

An electrical issue make a more sense in that it is shutting off, not stumbling and then continuing to run.

I believe its getting a stop signal from the wiring or circuit board. A stop signal shuts the ignition, anti run-on solenoid and the electric fuel pump.

Download the manual and follow the stop switch circuit.

I cant imagine that a fuel issue would be so touchy that just a bump will stall the motor. I put a fuel shut off valve on my gen so I can run the carb dry when the RV will sit for a fair amount of time. My gen will run around a minute with the fuel shut off before it dies.
