Need more info.
Sitting how long?
Starts every time and immediately shuts down? Or it will run for a while?
Checked the standard stuff - make sure the air filter doesn't have bugs in it, the fuel filter is OK, and that the fuel pump will pump fuel?

I had this happen on my portable generator here at home. I did not have the fuel valve turned to the open position.

Also when was the last time it ran correctly?

Well it always ran good before we put it in storage and got it out and this is it. So the coach had a half tank of gas so we went and filled it and thought that was the problem. The air cleaner is good. The company says the carb might need cleaning from sitting. But every winter we store it. Soooooo

Generator Wants to Run but stops after a few minutes

I had the exact same problem with our Onan generator on a Roadtrek that was new. When I returned to my Roadtrek maintenance folks, they checked the oil and noted it was just a tiny bit low; after topping it off to the correct level, they ran it under load for 45 minutes with no problems. We have had no such problems with the unit since. Also, it is recommended you run your generator under load once per month for 30 minutes minimum (again, under load). Some LP generators do not like running continuously if the RV is not sitting level. Hope one of these tips may help.

Once a year I put seven cans of Seafoam in my gas tank and do a trip that burns through it all.

I make sure to run the generator at least and hour while the cleaner is in the gas tank.
