Heat would be great

I have a 8535_iv_DCLP Heater that won't work.
The fan comes on, I can smell propane hear it click but no ignition it will run awhile and click again but still no heat. Can anyone tell me what is wrong

One thing that gets me every year or so is mud dauber insects.

Fan runs...smell propane...hear click...no flame
So everything/circuits are working otherwise no smell of propane/Clicking

Spark electrode provides the High Voltage Spark for ignition
Spark electrode must be positioned and the 'gap' needs to be 1/8" - 3/16"

Fuel/Air Mixture HAS to be correct ratio...Intake port obstructed can cause unbalance in that ratio
Exhaust port obstructed will limit amount of air that can be pulled in thru intake

Orifice/burner dirty


SO....
Did furnace work and stop working? (probably a main component failure)
Furnace hasn't been used in a while? (dirty---needs a good cleaning)

Thanks for the reply... the furnace was working fine one weekend the next weekend it worked for part of the night but woke up to only cold air. The water heater is still working fine so there is enough propane.

Pull the burner assembly out.

From your model number it looks like you have the same furnace as I have that I have been working on the last three days. The burner assembly on the right side is not difficult to remove.

First turn off the propane and vent the pressure through a burner on the stove.

Then start pulling thing out for inspection. You’ll need a 1/4 inch socket on a long extension. And a 3/4 wrench.

- thumb screw on the left side of the burner area holds the exhaust tube in. It may stick a bit coming out.

- disconnect the propane supply on the right side. Push back the supply
Host just a little.

- four screws. First on lower left. Next 1/2 way up on right and the last up at the top right behind the gas solenoid. There’s one more on the edge of the blower on the left side. It’s actually the easiest to see.

Disconnect the two wires and the entire burner assembly pulls straight out. The metal plate on the blower comes out with it.

Reassembly is reverse of above. You will need a magnetic 1/4 inch socket to hold the screws in to get the back three screws back is. Without that you will drop the screws many times.

Do I need to replace the burner assembly?

Pull the burner before just replacing parts. Mine looked good so I’m going for the high temp limit switch. Better to inspect what you can visually verify and eliminating what does work before starting down the change parts path.
