Hello, new subscriber today with check valve problems.

I have a 2005 Winnebago Suncruiser. My fresh water tank has been backfilling. I tried the city water off method and running hot water thru the water pump using the fresh water tank to free up the possible stuck valve. Didn’t work. I under stand there is a back flow valve, perhaps in 3 locations aboard my unit. Can’t find it. Called local parts supplier and was told it probably is in the water unit and I should replace the water pump. Have a Shurflo Model 5900-0211 with smart sensor 5.7 that still functions and is no longer made. Suggestion on other possible remedies for the old unit, or what unit would replace the outdated one? Also would adding a more modern back flow valve inline on the outflow pipes at water pump do the trick? Thank you all.

It's possible there is no check valve besides the valves in the pump, and they are light rubber flappers. Might be possible to get a rebuild kit for the pump, might not be economical, might not be easy to rebuild if you can't reach the end of the pump to remove the cover in place. Adding a check valve will work IF it's backflowing through the pump. A check valve will make it harder for the pump to prime if it's full of air. A manual valve won't make it harder to prime, unless you forget to open it.

Here is a Shurflo pump replacement chart (part numbers)
https://www.depcopump.com/catalogs/o...log110/158.pdf

If replacing the pump a Shurflo 4048 would be good replacement
Constant pressure but uses a Bypass to control low demand cycling

If adding an in-line check valve it should be installed in the suction line so pump body stays full & pressurized
*if discharge side a leaking pump check valve will allow pump body to drain back which cause pressure switch to close and pump cycles on/off

Suncruiser may have a water bay with a fresh tank fill valve. It may be leaking into the tank.
