Trying to be a good guy for a change. I've been yakking on the phone with one of iRV2's new members and I told him I'd send him the link that I couldn't find.
See now aren't you sorry you tried to imply I had did something wrong.

I will give you the very short course on the difference between 12 volt batteries and six volt batteries in RV's
-{12 volt battery}+
-{12 volt battery}+
With 1,2,3,4 27 12 volt batteries you hook 'em up as above, The left side goes to "Ground" (Chassis ground) the right to the fuses, 12 volt breakers, and circuits to provide power.
WIth six volt it's like this.
-{6volt|+==-{6volt}+ (the == is a short jumper cable)
-{6volt|+==-{6volt}+
Again, the left side is chassis ground, and the right side runs off to the fuses, breakers etc.. and again it is 12 volt.
As to how to you treat them.
Exactly the same way.. The only difference is this.. With 12 volt in parallel, sometimes you can replace just one.
With six volt, you always replace them 2 at a time (Both halves of the pair)
Also, most six volt batteries are flooded wet cell, so you do need to check them, clean them and occasionally add DISTILLED water to them.
Bring the water up to just below the bottom of the filler tube, NOT into the tube, but just below it. (Fill them too full you have to clean more often).
Why are six volt so popular.. Cost v/s capacity. More bang for your buck, and the flooded wet cell lasts longer than the sealed varieties.
