high voltage on Onan 5.5 BGMFA26105H

After a carburetor rebuild I noticed that the genset sounded different. It was running quieter and very smooth. After a warmup I put it under a load, both AC's. They just didn't sound right so I shut down the load and checked the voltage at one of the 120v outlets. It read 128 volts. That sounds high.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.

You can get a strobe app on your phone and if you can see any rotating parts you can check it for proper speed at differing loads.

Well, on my Emerald I can peer into the generator end and see the armature. the armature shaft is also visible within the bearing when looking straight onto the generator end. A mirror could be used if need be.
Believe your genny runs at a nominal 2400 rpm. You should check your service manual.

Check the voltage under load. May want to use an electric heater instead of the ACs.

You can also pick up a Kill A WATT meter and monitor volts and HZs. Should be 60 HZs.

Your RPMs are to high. Recheck your carb linkage for the wrong hole in the throttle or linkage binding.

Don't start adjusting engine speeds until your sure the linkage is right.

With the engine running, no load, see if you can bring the engine speed down to very slow by moving the throttle lever with your finger. Should be able to.

What twinboat says and...
"after a carb rebuild" are the key words. Something must not have been re-assembled right. Do you have the service manual to reference adjustments to the governor? (mechanical or electronic)

I'll give Twin Boats suggestion a whirl. Its a mechanical governor.

So you might have a reassembly problem. I forget that I carry a camera with me most of the time. Really wish I would remember. But hey, you're on the right track! Good luck!

Thanks to all.
I'll post when I'm up and running.
Cummins/Onan guy comes around on Wed. In the mean time I'll try the suggestions on this forum.
