Honda EU2200i

Wondering if this new Honda generator will run a single RV 13,500 BTU air conditioner. It is rated at 15 amps continuous 18 amps peak. Has anyone tried one?

Its not the running that's the problem, its the starting (amps) that is the issue. Might look into a soft start (not hard start). Google Micro-Air.

The answer is ... maybe. The soft start add-ons will help put the odds in your favor. Some will without it though.

Bill is right, I run my 13,500 AC with an EU2000 because I installed a 'Micro-air soft start on the AC unit. Just sold my 2000 and bought a 2200. Although the 2000 handled it, I am sure the 2200 will do it with ease. Actually, I wouldn't be suprised to see a 2200 run the AC without the easy start. The only way we will know that if if someone tries one without the easy start.

Just wrote a thread on this earlier today, see:
http://www.irv2.com/forums/f50/love-...it-384223.html

Here is the link to the easy start:

Although Honda only advertises the 2200 at 1800 amps, it actually is over 2400amps when tested.
