I have at Atwood 10 gallon electronic/propane water heater. I left my manuals at home and now I have a problem. Neither the electronic rocker switch or the propane works. The rocker switch lights up as normal, it just doesn't heat up. The propane seems to pre-ignite, but never catches. I've checked the fuses and they are ok. I have about 2/3 tank of propane. Any suggestions?

There are high temperature resets on the backside of the water heater. Winnebagos typically have the Motoraid system, which heats up the hot water via the engine coolant while you drive. Sometimes this can overheat the water heater and when you kick in the LP burner or electric heater, the reset can pop.

If you reach around the backside of the burner you'll feel two rubber-enclosed reset buttons right between the wiring terminals. Just make sure the 120 volt water heater switch is off before you start poking around back there.

Of course I am taking a guess here that you have such an RV. If you modify the signature line in your user profile you can list the RV information and then everyone will know how to better direct their answers. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response. As it turns out, when I had the mh in for some warranty work a few weeks ago, they turned the water heater bypass switch to on, so when I arrived here, the heater was getting no water! That is fixed. However, I haven't been able to figure our an "easy" way to reset the breaker/fuse for the electronic side of the heater as the area is extremely confining to get to. I'm certainly open to any suggestions.

cghost, we do need a little more info so we can be of help. What year is your coach? If you go outside, you can access the ignition board through the water heater panel. You may want to check to be sure there are no loose connections on the quick connects to board. Are the electric and gas operation switches on the same plate with a light inbetween? If so this is the new version of Atwood's gas electric heater and uses the same thermostats (operating and ECO) for both electric and gas. This unit has about 9 or 10 wire on the ignition board. Let me know it this turns out to be the same as what you have.

If the tank was empty and the electric portion of the heater was on, the heating element is probably fried, since it wasn't covered with water.

RV Wisard - we have a '04 Itasca Suncruiser 38R. I can't get my arms/hands behind the panel which holds in the water heater (too short arms/too skinny opening), so it looks like I'll have to take it to a tech when I get home unless there is an easier solutiion as to how to get behind the panel. I called my dealer (who is a long way from me right now) and he said to reset the fuse/breaker behind the panel also. He didn't say I needed long skinny arms and hands!

Look under your coach, under your water heater, there maybe a screw out access plate to gain access to back of your water heater. It would be simalar to a round sewer hose access panel.---"007"
