Hot Water in 2008 winnebago adventure will only stay hot a few seconds

We just got out RV yesterday 5 Mar 14 and as I was cleaning her up tonight the hot water at first would not get hot. Then it got warm then cold a few seconds later then hot for a few second then back cold. It will not stay hot. Can someone please help us. We are new RVers and we just don't have the money to take it to a shop right now. Thank you in advance for your assistance. SFC

Make sure the outside shower faucet is turned off with the knobs, not with just the showerhead, otherwise it will backfeed somehow.

If that's not it I'm not sure then, but that symptom sounds like hot-cold mixing.

Welcome to irv2. Hope the info you got here works. It is a common symptom.

When you do get reliable hot water, remember it will get hotter than that at your S&B home. In the interest of economy/space (tank size primarily), they build the things to really heat the water, expecting such a group of intelligent campers as we are to know to add some cold water, hence the single spout fixtures.

And don't forget to report back on whatever fixes (or doesn't fix) your problem.

If that didn't do it, check your water heater bypass. If it is a 3 valve system, the middle valve is probably open. In summer mode the top and bottom valves should be open or on and the middle valve should be closed or shut.
