ok ---- I did make a mistake. Hanging head low!!!!!
I was just rechecking and the inverter was ON. Even though the DISPLAY was Off the inverter was in fact ON
When I rechecked the reading with the inverter OFF the amp draw is now someting like one half of an amp 12 DC. While that is not low there are several displays on around the RV (like the unusable older sattelite system)
.5 amp at 12 DC is something I can probably live with.
It does, however, highlight to me that when I replace my NORCOLD in a couple of months it will probably be with a DC compressor unit. Therefore I would not have to leave any inverter on (even if I added a second 1000W unit) and deal with additional drain. My other option is the "Amish" cooling unit that I had in my other RV for almost six years.
