How do I set water pressure regulator?

No, I don’t mean how do you turn the screw (adjustable regulator). I mean do you set the pressure -say 60 psi- statically with water turned on and no fixtures open or do you set it while water is flowing? With mine if I set it statically at 60 when the sink is turned on the pressure drops to 40 and water flow is considered inadequate by she who must be obeyed. If I run it at about 75 statically it will drop to about 55 and water flow in MH is quite satisfactory. So I would rather set it dynamically but I believe you are supposed to set statically. Anybody know?

Pressure should be set statically.

The static measure sets the upper limit of pressure allowed in the system to be protected. If your system has a limit of, say, 60 psi, your regulator is set so that pressure is not exceeded. Period. If you then connect to a 100 psi spigot, the pressure into the system would max out at 60 psi. However, if you set the pressure during flow at 60, as soon as you shut off all inside faucets the pressure would rise to 100 and likely burst a connection.

Be sure you have a full flow regulator, as some types limit pressure by restricting flow as well.

BTW, how is the pressure/flow using the water pump? That is the way the system was designed to function, with the city water as an alternative. There are quite a few threads where people use their pumps to boost the performance of the city water connection.
