How to disconnect power to Kwikee Steps
Getting ready to troubleshoot the Kwikee steps on our mh this weekend as they stopped working today. To kill the power to them, are there 1-2 wires that need to be disconnected underneath?

Two ways to do so. Disconnect to leads to the controler or pull the fuse.

The post 1999 Kwikee (IMGL) step uses a 4 pin (square) connector to the contol box - that's the most "disconnected" way to disconnect the step and required to trouble-shoot the controller.

Pages 7 , 8, and 9 of this manual tells you how to troubleshoot Kwikee steps.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Don't want the fingers getting pinched. Will post what the fix is/was when done.

Thanks for posting this link . I had found it last May, but lost the link during a computer change.
For some reason, it is not what comes up using a normal internet search - but is the best manual I had seem for my step...maybe my computer skills are the real issue
BTW, the controller was the part that failed on my 5 year old coach. The contoller is available (without the motor/gear set) for anywhere from $81-UP on-line (ebay, Amazon, etc).

Took a brief look underneath today and it appears to be the "pot metal" linkage arm from the motor to the step is broken. Will see if I can get the sn/pn of the controller and step series number to order the correct one out of (3) shown. The one that is broken appears to be curved and the other (2) are straight but different lengths.

Update.
As I may have stated in an earlier post, the "pot metal" linkage arm, pn 909534, that goes from the motor to the steps had a clean break and was replaced. (All fingers are intact) After a good lubing there working like new. Thanks to those that responded.

That's one of the most important points to take when working on steps. Be careful and good luck.
