After attempting to have the local electric motor guy try to rebuild my pump motor and having him tell me he can find brushes I bought a new one from here
HWH Replacement Parts - Stuart's Services
Chuck at Stuarts was very helpful, even after bothering him a few times. First thing to do was to get the model number from the entire tank assembly. This entailed wiping the grime off the top of it the with a flashlight and small mirror getting the number. AP29808 in our case.
Then for $186 they sent me a new motor and solenoid (I didn't need). It's number is RAP91244. The old motor was chassis grounded so no ground connection needed. The new has both +and- but a ground strap came with it.
So after busting my knuckles I got the new one in connecting the new ground to the post marked - of course. Go in and hit the button and whirrrr. Motor freewheeling, no pressure. Now I get to thinking the coupler (small slotted brass piece) that connects the motor to the impeller fell out in the process. Can't find it so out comes the new motor. Sure enough the coupler is there. Put it all back and hit the button, Whirrr, motor freewheeling again. Darn (or something close).
So after another call to Chuck I get to thinking maybe even though the one post is marked it might be backwards. So next I take my handy jump start box and hook it to the old motor. It still works when it wants to and it spins counter clockwise when looking at it from the shaft end. Out comes the new motor again, cut on hand and arm this time. Put in on the picnic table next the old one, hook up the jump box neg to the - post and pos to the only other choice and sure enough it turns clockwise, darn it. I checked to see if the - post had continuity to the housing and it did not. Back in the motor goes connected the other way pos to - neg to the only other choice. Slide room comes in hooray!
