HWH Drop Down Jack / Broken Actuator Cable

HWH has sent me a replacement actuator cable for my drop down jack. What appeared to be a straight-forward swap is not. After feeding the metal tip through the hole in front of the jack, due to its length the metal tip does not clear the actuator assembly. Do I need to further disassemble the jack in order to route the tip over the actuator or am I missing something easy?

I've sent in inquiry to HWH via email and their web site. No response. I've called them and they have no one available to help as they are weeks behind.

This received from HWH: "In order to replace that cable you will have to remove the cylinder out of the pivot bracket. You will need to remove the snap rings on the pivot points of the cylinder and you will be able to remove the cylinder and then install the cable and you can put the cylinder back in and continue hooking up the cable. Hopefully this makes sense."

I thought after removing the snap rings I'd have to hold the jack in place with a wire or similar so I had one in position and ready. After removing the snap rings it was easy enough to pull the jack pivots out of the bracket one side at a time. While that side was out I held the jack in one hand while I fished that side's cable into position. After each side was done I reinstalled the snap rings. The most challenging part of the replacement was spring removal/replacement. I believe that's been addressed in multiple forums on this site.

I just pull the entire jack and fix it on the bench then reinstall it.

Thanks 1mainiac. Having never worked with hydraulics I wasn't too keen on complete removal. Thanks though for the pointer. I may consider reading up a bit so I'm ready for complete removal in the future.
