HWH Parts Heads Up.
For the first time in 25 years of owning RV's, I just missed a trip due to the notorious HWH shuttle valve failure. Thankfully this happened at home prior to a trip instead of when I was suppose to head back home. Once I figured out it was a bad shuttle valve, I had no idea that getting a replacement part from a company that is still in business would be the hardest part of the repair.
First thing Friday morning I went on line and tried to order the part on what must be a site created just after the internet was invented. You have to fill out a form, submit it and just wait. After waiting all day Friday with no response. I call today, Monday morning and I'm told the parts guy will call me back in a day or two. Are you kidding me!!!???!!!
So now I have to wait and hope that when they finally do call back I will be able to answer the phone. This is worse then waiting for the cable guy, at lest they can narrow down a time to half a day. Once I finally do get the part ordered I can only imagine how long it will take to get the part from a shelf to a truck. I have another trip planned in 4 weeks, I hope I can get the part by then. I have dealt with bad customer service but this is the first time I have experienced NO customer service. I"m really am surprised they are still in business.
So if you have one of these systems just know when you need a part in a hurry they will call you back in a few days. If you know of a company that stocks parts and wants customers please post it up.
I'll update this as things progress.

I was doing some internet searching and found this form 2012. That was back when it was all on this site I believe before the split or launch of separate site.
HWH Poor Service - Winnebago Owners Online Community
7 years later and a very good economy and yet this poorly run company still sucks.

It was wired to order a part over the phone like that these days, I guess the internet hasn't gotten to the Midwest yet. LOL

Update: On Sept 13 I used HWH's website to ask to order a shuttle valve. On Sept 23 they finally called. That's 10 days just to get to the order process. On Sept 16 I called Stewart's Service and actually ordered the part. With standard ground shipping the part showed up in CA on the 24.
I didn't ask for expedited shipping and now know how long standard takes. I also learned a ton about my slide/jack system and how to deal with a total failure. I do think the HWH system is far better then any other I have herd of and glad I can still get new parts for it. If I ever need another part I will go straight to Stewart's Service.
The new shuttle valve is in and everything is working better then ever. The old one was making things move slower.

I have a 99 Monico Sig and according to HWH's trouble shooting guide I have all lights on my display unit and they say that indicates a bad controller. I have had a call into HWH tech service for over 4 weeks with not response and email with my questions with no response. I'm trying to locate where this controller is located and Monico tech was not help as they no longer use this system. Anyone know where this might be located? Thanks in advance for the help.

Something that would help us ignorant lurkers would be to briefly explain the shuttle valve and how you concluded that it needed replacing. I'm asking because I'm new to this and I have HWH jacks that are misbehaving. I try to search for my answers before making a topic about a problem. Little bits of information buried in these topics can be valuable clues. Thanks.

Ron, do yourself a favor and contact Paul (You can contact Paul ( AZPETE) at pfmaddox@att.net or call him at 602-549-3638). He is a member here that works full time for HWH as a tech but is remote and has offered to help anyone that needs help with their system. He won't try to sell you anything but will help you figure out what is going on.He's helped me and 100s of others on here for free. He says his cell is always on, so call his cell and if he doesn't answer "Leave a msg with your number" so he can call you back. He's a good guy.
" rodekyll" - call Paul too. He'll explain how everything works.

I went through the same process a few weeks ago. I needed an actuator cable for my jack. I waited a couple of days for the call , and when they did I was not near the phone. I tried to get them to call first thing in the morning , and by the time they called , it was closer to noon and I also missed that call.
I ended up taking the broken cable to my industrial cable supplier and they made one for me identical to the original and for almost 1/2 the price. Took them 10 minutes.

I have run into that also. I do not understand why they take so long. If you miss their phone call a couple of weeks later you are screwed. When I break down in the middle of nowhere and need assistance I need it NOW.
I know about AZPete and his help but think the company should improve their communications.

I did a search of my problem and one thing to check was the shuttle valve by removing the u shaped tube on top of the manifold between the manifold and the valve. Then cap the 90 coming out of the center of the manifold. If your slides start working again the valve is bad. The valve is at the end of the manifold and has a quarter inch 90 that goes into the shuttle valve. All you can see of this valve is the 7/8" hex head with the 90 going into it. If you want a great explanation of a shuttle valve there are a few YouTube videos that show how they work.
I now carry the 1/4" cap, I believe a -3 cap would be the same, should the new valve fail. I can get the Jack's up without the pump and still have full use of the slides. I hope that covers your question.

I have to add to this, I tried calling HWH and talked to a girl there who spent more time taking down my information to have the parts department call me back to order the part, then if she would have taken my order right then. I have never come across another company that conducts business in such a bizarre way.
I can understand getting some tech support might take some time but to order a specific part and have to wait over a week for the honor to be allowed to order the part is nuts. To top it off there is this kinda cool thing called the internet now. Because of it there are companies that you can buy stuff from on thier websites right then and there, all without talking to someone or waiting over a week for a return call. Maybe some day this technology will make it's way to the midwest. LOL
