HWH room extension problems

Here's a tip for anyone who has an HWH room extension system. I've spent, at least, a couple of years struggling with a balky HWH system. This year, with all the time I have to spend at home, I tackled the problem head on. Suspecting failed o-ring seals, then a faulty solenoid valve on the room extension manifold, I pulled both solenoids and replaced the o-ring seals. Then, i fretted over a hydraulic pump that was weak and failing.

I finally stumbled across a fault tracing write-up at the HWH Corp. website. The first thing they suggest is checking the ground circuit to the hydraulic pump. Putting a voltmeter on the ground circuit...I read zero volts!! Voila!! I cleaned the ground lug, reinstalled all the ground wires.....wait for it....and the problems had evaporated in a puff of relief.

I had discounted the ground circuit as way too simple a problem. anyone with automotive repair stories knows it doesn't get this obvious and simple. But, yes.

So, if your experiencing odd hydraulic pump problems, problems that seem related to the time of day, like only in the morning....check out that ground lug. It's so simple.

I'm not sure what you're saying. There's not supposed to be any voltage on a ground circuit, unless you're measuring from the ground to a positive point.

You got it, friend. Any good mechanic would understand.
