Hydraulic Gen Slide Drifting

So I notice recently when my coach is in my driveway nose down slightly, my generator slide will start drifting out some after a few hrs or so. How normal is this?

I would expect a lock or LOCK PIN/s, so it does not slam out/ forward on fast stops?

I donít think so, it works off a hydraulic cylinder.

Hydraulic Gen Slide Drifting

No one else has experienced this with their power generator slide?

There is a (usually RED?) little valve knob on pump to bypass hydraulic Solenoids ( for manual/ power loss operation), possible one cracked open? Check that closed tight?

Iíll look for that, I did have to add a little atf awhile back. There are fluid level marks for when its open that you fill to. Iíll look for that valve. Might be a leak somewhere.

Here is the information on your slide. It is a power gear. The motor/pump is actually reversible which provides the in/out for the hydraulic cylinder

There is a valve block mounted on the front barrel of the cylinder with the hoses attached to it. Within the valve block is a lock valve with is probably you problem. It is suppose to lock the cylinder in place, it is probably letting hydraulic fluid bypass resulting in the generator slide drifting out.

There is also a problem that I've had where the slide lock valve gets stuck and you can't get the generator slide to go in or out. I've had to take the valve block out a couple times to get it unhung. I've flushed and cleaned the system which helps but not a cure all. I even bought a new lock valve (item #2 in the parts drawing).

Hey perfect Jim I donít think I have that info. I have had a couple instances where I couldnít get it out. It is drifting out a bit while driving now. Thanks for the info.

One trick you can try is that when you draw the slide in all the way hold your finger on the button for a couple extra seconds. This will clear any debris out from the lock valve.

I've had it got stuck while it was in and had to take the nuts off the end of the stem to get the slide out. This sometimes will relieve the pressure and the lock valve becomes unstuck.

I've never had it get stuck in the out position.

I have a similar issue on my 06 Charleston and I found if I fully extend and retract the slide a couple of times the problem goes away for a while. Seem to happen when I partially extend the slide to check the generator.

You have a leaking valve and/or the hydraulic cylinder itself is leaking by internally on the piston seal. A leaking piston seal will allow the slide to drift some. Piston seal in the hyd. cylinder will only get worse and eventually not even move the slide when you want to.
This is assuming you have no fittings or hoses leaking.
I would think there is a manual safety lock somewhere on the slide.

I didnít see any obvious leaks when I had it out last time but doesnít mean there isnít any or that itís getting past the block seal? I will try the couple of good suggestions given here even if itís temporary for now. Someone else mentioned locks, Iíll have to look but donít think there are any.
