Hydro Hot Problem

I have a few questions about the Hydro Hot in our newly purchased 2005 Country Coach Intrique. While the RV was at the shop for a few weeks having a “six pack” airbag replaced, the house batteries ran down. Once I took procession of the coach, we managed to bring the strength up enough for the house batteries to start the generator.

We then noticed that the panel for the Hydro Hot had the low battery level light on. We reset the panel, and then the “Low Tank Level” light came on. Looking at the plastic expansion tanks, the level of the fluid is between the “Cold” and “Hot” lines on the sides of the tanks which I would assume would be the correct amount.

I would like to know more about this system so I can determine if I should add some more fluid or is it a faulty switch caused by the lack of power during the time that the battery was low.

Finally, If I’m going to have to add some antifreeze and water. Which antifreeze should I mix with the distilled water. I found a few different varieties described on various treads ranging from Camco Boiler Antifreeze (propylene glycol), and Prestone (ethylene glycol coolant) being used.

The unit is an Hydro Hot, Model #HHE-500-09M-12VDC

I'll be trying to muddle my way though this problem later this weekend.

Thanks,

Chuck

You should join the RV Hydronic Heater Forum run by Roger Berke. He is an expert on them. There is a section on Hydro Hot and you can ask any questions. He is very helpful and answers questions quickly...... He rebuilt my Wabasto and it runs like new now...

Our Aqua Hot uses propylene glycol. I found it at a marine store.
