Hydronic Heating: Oasis or AquaHot?

I am evaluating new motor homes with hydronic heating (diesel burner). Some have Oasis and some have AquaHot. Any preferences? Is one considered better than the other.

I know that AquaHot recently modified their units to Low Emissions. Not sure about Oasis.

I also hear that the Oasis has two electric heating elements. Not sure about AquaHot.

Have Oasis in our current MH, our first hydronic unit. Love it, will never have a coach without something similar. Yes, ours has two AC elements; also an engine heat loop (optional), which lets the Oasis pre-heat the engine, and/or vice versa. Have never had any problems with it, and we love the (relatively) quiet heat and endless hot water.

LK23:

Hi from Mpls. area Minnesota. We've had both the Aqua/Hydro Hot and the Oasis (our current unit) and we do prefer the Oasis as it is significantly quieter than the Aqua/Hydro Hot was in our previous MH. In other words the burner noise outside is much less than was the Aqua/Hydro hot and less bothersome to us and to neighbors when it needs to run. It also seems to be a much cleaner burning unit such that there is significantly less noticeable exhaust to bother neighbors in those campgrounds that pack ya close together.

Ya know, I can't recall whether our previous Aqua/Hydro Hot (an 06 model) had two heating elements or not, but our current Oasis does have two which can be convenient when ya need a little more hot water volume, although, it's seldom we have both elements on.

Hope this helps.

Both Aqua-Hot and Oasis make very fine hydronic heaters. You will be happy with either brand.

If I were in the market for a new coach, I would insist that it be equipped with the Aqua-Hot 675-D. This Aqua-Hot is one of the new low emissions model and has dual electric elements (one 2000 watt and one 4500 watt). Coach owners who have this model report that the Aqua-Hot will provide all of the heat that they need until it gets very cool outside. More information on the Aqua-Hot website, here: Aqua-Hot Heating Systems Inc.

Roger,

The motor home I am considering with AquaHot is Tiffin Allegro Bus and it has the 450DE unit.

The other coach I am considering is the Newmar Dutchstar and it comes equipped with the Oasis.

The Aqua-Hot model 450-D is a fine hydronic heater.

The model 450 has about 5 gallons of coolant in its boiler tank and a single 1650 watt element. The model 600 / 675 hold about 15 gallons of coolant and have dual electric elements.

The larger 600 series units store more heat energy for peak demand needs.

Since the Aqua Hot 450 so little coolant (5 Gal.)to store heat it has a hot water sensor that shuts down the coach heat when continuous hot water is being used - as in a shower-(domestic hot water priority) the larger model 600-675 does not.
