I need wiring help for my new roof vent

Switching out the old roof vent for a newer one and trying to figure out where the blue "brake control" wire hooks up to. I even provided a handy diagram to help.

I get hooking up the positive and the negative. I was going to hook up the remote start to the inner panel but I have no idea where the blue one connects. Help!!!

From your pictures, it appears that the Blue 'brake' wire appears to be part of the new fan package. If it is, there should be a description of what it does and where it hooks up in the installation instructions. This is where a listing of the new fan make and model would help.

That link should take you to the 'Hike Crew' web page for the installation of your fan. Item 7 does say to connect the blue wire to the 'Brake Control' system of your RV, BUT why? I've never heard of a roof vent being controlled by the brakes.
I could not find in the instructions the purpose of it, Yes the instructions are ???? Hopefully someone else can provide a reason. If you do connect it, I think that you would have to tap into the brake system on the front of the trailer where the cord comes in.

Ken

I tried to make the link clickable but not my strong points. It's "Hikecrew.com".
they also have a phone number and email address for support.

Per their documentation the “brake” wire mist have +12 volts on it for the fan to work. Just connect it along with your red wire.
Never heard of that function before.

Gonna watch this thread because I'm really curious to see why something called a brake control wire would be used on a ceiling vent fan.

According to one of the questions posed on the Amazon web page, it is a protection against driving away with the fan running, i.e. the lid up.

Well, I learn something new every day!

I'm taking it that this replaces an existing automatic vent fan that already has the brake control wire in place.
