In Dash compass reading wrong

Even in this day of high tech navigation I find it necessary to know which direction I am facing. Especially after just entering a new destination and the GPS doesn't show you right away or know right away which way you are facing till you are rolling in a direction.
With that said my 2014 Newmar DS compass is not showing the correct headings. It never shows N, NE or NW, and when heading in one of the others don't trust it enough to use. Any ideas?

There should be a procedure in the manual, but in my Ram you go somewhere clear, no metal buildings and drive around in circles a couple of times and that should do it.

Right, a couple of slow steady circles will calibrate the internals. Alternately, if you have an iPhone there's an included compas function which I have found to be surprisingly accurate.

I know this is "Old Tech", but a $5 magnetic compass works without electricity, never needs calibrating, is reliable, and you don't have to be in the correct GPS mode, or moving. Isn't tech great?
