Installation Magnum AGS - Onan 7500QD?

I’ve purchased the Magnus AGS stand-alone, purchased the Cummins Y harness for EC30W (044-00088).

Does anyone have a photo of how they connected their generator wires to the AGS? I’m going to mount the AGS in the generator bay and was considering just connecting the battery voltage wires to back of generator vs hauling the wiring 40’ to back of motorhome.

I have a gas Onan generator, and also placed the Magnum in the Generator bay, just above the generator. I ran the wires into the generator housing and used scotchlocks to attach the AGS wires to the generator wires. I also tapped the 12VDC at the generator. Works fine. make sure you get the dip switches properly set for your specific generator type.

Where did you find a wiring diagram that labeled the wires? I can’t find something that shows color of wires coming out of generator or even a diagram of which wires do what.

Magnum AGS-S won’t turn generator starter more than once

I’ve hooked the AGS-Stand-alone to a Cummins 7500 QD.

The test seems to do everything correctly but it only tries to turn over the once then stops. Then will attempt again after it cycles.

My generator needs more time to fire up, is there a way to extend the startup period?

Did you set the dip switches according to your generator? If it is the default, it should do a preheat/start of the generator for 20 seconds. Does it start the second time? It should initiate up to 4 start attempts.

Yea I set all to off but also tried other settings. It turns over engine a couple of times then stops and will try again 4 times.

If it tried cranking for maybe 5 seconds total it would fire right up. As it is, it tries for max if 2 seconds I’d say.

Hi CurtisW, did you ever get it to work? I have a different rig and generator but my AGS also doesn't crank long enough. Magnum isn't finding the problem.

If the instructions say run wires from battery that is your problem because the fuel solenoid will make a slight electrical interruption and it stops. I tried short cutting by just connecting the positive and negative to the terminals on back of generator and had that problem. Pulled wires to it from batteries and started and ran correctly.
