What inverter do you have? There are circuit breakers on the inverter and when plugged into power the inverter should pass current through to the loads and some will charge the battery bank at this point.
When no shore power or generator power is present and the inverter is turned on it should then take power from the battery bank and produce 120 vac to the loads wired from the out put of the inverter.

Sounds like the real issue might be "shore power does not enter the coach" do you have 120volt thru out the coach, or is it just 12 volt items effected?

There is a small 1/2 to 3/4 amp fuse inside the inverter on a small control board. Disconnect all power; even the batteries and remove the inverter cover. Find the fuses on these boards and replace any that are blown. Re-install cover , reconnect batteies and check charging once the power has been restoredGood luck and keep us posted.

Shore Power or Gen Power enter the coach thru the transfer switch which is the first place to look at if AC power is not going in the coach.
AC power goes from transfer switch to main AC panel thru a Duo50 amp breaker and then back out to the inverter thru a 30amp breaker. Open your panel (if you feel qualified to do so) and check voltages in and out of panel?
If power is leaving the Main panel, then the fault would be in the inverter, try the fuse mentioned above...

This question does not make sense to me. The inverter converts dc power from your batteries into ac power. When on shore or generator power you get ac power directly thus no need for the inverter. If you mean the charger portion of the inverter/charger (if your inverter is a built in system it is usually a combined unit) is not working, then that would be an issue. I have a Magnum unit and on the remote control unit you can independently turn on/off the inverter and charger. When on shore power I cannot turn on my inverter but can turn on/off the charger.

AC goes from transfer switch to main panel then out to the inverter AC input. The AC output from the inverter goes to a smaller sub panel labelled the inverter panel.

If on shore power the Magnum connects the AC input to the AC output using 3 pole relays. So your inverter powered devices are always powered thru the inverter...

There are fuses on the AC in and AC out depending on the Magnum model. So it is possible that you might be on shore power and your inverter powered appliances (TVs and microwave are not getting power (fuse on inverter tripped) and your AC plugs would still work (that don't go through the inverter).

Hope this helps!

Inverters make 120VAC from 12V battery power when you do not have shore power.
Why would you want your inverter on when plugged into land line?
Wondering

Hi Mel,

He might have meant the converter-charger part of the inverter does not work...

Or, if he means the TV and Microwave don't work when on shore power this would imply that power is not getting in or out of inverter panel. In that case it would be a fuse on the Inverter (ACin or AC out) or a fuse on inverter sub-panel.

I agree.
lacdubonnet MIGHT have meant the converter-charger part of the inverter... (but he said INVERTER).
Unless/until he tells us what he meant we are all wasting our time posting answers in an attempt to help him.

OK, shore power fine? but no bars?
How do you know shore is fine?

no ac to run ac,oven
Air Conditioners don't work unless gen is running?
If Air conditioners only run on gen then probably transfer switch don't work.

but my tv,lites work through my house batteries enverted power
So inverter works from batteries power?

but batteries running dead not being recharged.when needing ac power to run air must start gen
So when gen is running Air Conditioners work, do batteries re-charge?
What do you measure for DC volts at batteries when Shore? and when Gen?
