Angry Is there a kit for manual generator slide out? (Onan / 7000W)

Hey guys.

I have ONAN HGJAA 7000W Genset installed in my Winnebago. (Specific model: 7HGJAA-97A)

I am slightly annoyed by it because it breaks frequently and I don't want to waste time going to a service center every time it breaks.

Is there some kit that can be purchased to convert the generator to a (manual) slide-out version so that I can service some simple faults myself?

Right now there is just no easy access to the back side, which makes servicing it without completely removing it from the vehicle extremely hard.

It's been a lot of years since I looked, but at the time Onan did offer manual slides for the diesel generator I had.

Lots of options for the slide tray however the exterior part may be a completely different issue.

What do want to service in back?

My Onan is propane and the pressure regulator is in the back.

Here is the deal. I do my own work and getting running right when the MH was new to me took a lot of work. The voltage regulator cost was more than a new portable inverter generator.

I set the new generator by the front of MH and let the Onan know I was done spending money on it.

Past few years I have only run the portable generator once a year to make sure the Onan knows the score.

Do n it be afraid to talk tough to an Onan.

Last time the generator broke, I had to completely replace the engine control unit because it was broken/giving off weird error. It was to impossible to replace it accessing from the front.

Then it worked for a year, and now there is another malfunction.

I suspect this time malfunction should be easier for me to handle, because

- I primed it first for 8 seconds, then pressed start
- It started for 5 seconds then went down
- I primed it again for ~5 seconds, then pressed start
- It started for 3 seconds and went down
- After that it did not want to start at all, no matter how many times I crank

I gave it too much fuel, probably.

So I suspect that the fuel was dirty, so after I check the fuel line and pump and maybe clean up fuel filters and cylinders/maybe fdifferent part of the fuel line, it should work again.

I hope.

Yeah, I do the same, I run it 4-5 times a year to make sure it doesn't go rusty or something. because right now I am mostly standing still due to different small malfunctions (not of genset tho).

Unfortunately I am generally a lazy person, I am learning how to be more productive right now.

Yeah, I already talked to them via chat, the part number of the slide kit is 026-00151.

It's not available in their shop though, so I need to call 1-800-CUMMNIS or something now.

If you say so, I may have to adapt the compartment door.

Previous MH owner already damaged them tho, so I am not afraid to experiment. They are partially broken anyway.

Look at MorRyde for a tray, several different types:

Make your own. Source Locking Drawer Slides from Vandania, https://www.amazon.com/VADANIA-Drawe...66&sr=8-7&th=1

Make a frame out of angle steel for the size you need.

Interesting idea!

But I am guessing that all the piping and wires will not fit by default, would need to be re-worked.

Extending the slide could damage them if they are not elastic enough, these also need special kind of flexible organizers, like they use for CNC.

That would be probably more difficult to do.
