She said yes. He was not sold (of course he doesn't do the laundry).
She had to have it. He said he could take it or leave it. So, they took it.
She wanted it in the bath area and not the bedroom. So, they got a 39W with 2 slides. Sure wish they had taken the 39K sitting right next to the 39W. They would have had more room and maybe (if lucky) would not have faced the vast array of problems they have experienced with their 39W.
-----------
After almost a year - she still says yes. He is still not sold. So, if we were to do it again we'd have to have one.

Dick, we evaluated this issue last year on our 3 mo summer trip and came to the conclusion it's much easier to use a Laundromat. We spent from 1-2 hrs every 10 days, rather than spend 1hr each day doing small loads. We did the math and concluded it would take about 25 years to break-even on the initial unit. We further concluded with daily use the washer/dryer combo would have been replaced at least 3 times.

Dick,
We had the ventless Splendid in our former MH. It was a diesel pusher on a Freightliner chassis. Even when the load was balanced, it would shake this heavy motorhome to the point I didn't like being in the coach.
The ventless unit is one of the worst machines ever invented by humans. The
vented type would be acceptable for small loads. Most of the problems that occur on a Splendid are caused by the add on safety devices for the United
State Underwriters Lab. approval.
We don't have a WD in our current 37B Adven. but it's plumbed for one so if we get tired of the laundry mat we'll put in a venting type.

I think it depends on how you use your MH. Most full timer that we talk to consider it a necessity. My wife didn't think she would want one but we recently bought a 2002 Journey DL that had one in it.It is a vented Splendid and you can not hear or feel it it the wash mode and just a slight vibration when drying some things. Oh yes after a month of using it she wouldn't be with out one. We do full time.

My wife would rather have the storage space then a washer/dryer. It takes less time to go to the somewhere like a CG Laundry and do it all in less then one hour.
Some fulltimers we talked to use theirs as a hamper!

Absolutely. We traded because we wanted a 4 door frige and a w/d. I would rather do a few small loads a day than go to the laundromat. The w/d will wash more than it will dry so I hang some clothes on our rear rack. I love cleaning, reading, ot watching TV while the washer does it's job and I hated that 2 hours a week in the laundromat.

We use our W/D all the time. Indispensable! A small load every day or every other day keeps us in clean clothes and very happy campers.

Bea - at the Park our laundy is near the shuffleboard, pool, pool room, library and bean bag - so we find a lot to do while the machines are doing their thing.

We're on the run alot so taking time out to sit around a laundry doesn't work for us. We have the splendide 2100 in this coach and it really works out well. Now you can just do little touch-up loads as needed rather than wait. You can also do the laundry while cruising down the road to further maximize your schedule. We wouldn't be without it, but then again, it's going to depend upon your traveling style. Also, one of the big pluses to us in our 40DP floor plan was the fact that the washer-drier was mounted mid-ship rather than buried back in the bedroom corner.

Grandkids = pool = wet swimsuits = wet towels = priceless! Once you get ahead of the learning curve they are very easy and convinent to use.

We have a Splendide Vented Combo W/D in our 2002 Journey DL - 39QD. It works well and is reasonably quiet and vibration free.
Sure it only takes small loads, but if you don't stand around and watch it - who cares !
Yes - we would get another one.

My argument with the wife is would she ever get 6,000 quarters use out of our installed W/D? Her argument is convience. No lugging everything back and forth. She dosen't mind the shake, rattle and roll of the machine whenever we're stopped for more than a day. All day by the way. I on the other hand have problems with the "Soap Suds Serenade" at nap time or even occasional "Bed Times". And let's not forget the all important "Did you open the grey valve?"
Acccidently located but well placed floor openings under the machine have saved the carpeting on two occasions because of that question. All in all I vote NO. She wins by default. Good Luck
