What's underneath the refrigerator? You might be able to just take that out if it's a drawer and a Samsung 18CF French door unit will go in there perfectly. They can be bought for ~$1000-1100 so probably not that much difference and those are so efficient that they will probably not use much more energy than a 12-14CF unit.......this will likely come back to you when you sell.

Well, we just put in a 10.1 cubic foot residential fridge and underneath is all my uhm...adult beverages.
