Welcome to irv2. I've moved your post here for a broader view. I had electric jacks in my Bounder. Others will be along shortly.

Assuming you have HWH jacks...
What kind of fluid should I use in my system?
The use of HWH Specialty Hydraulic Oil is recommended but Dexron or multipurpose transmission fluids can be used if necessary. DO NOT use hydraulic jack oil, brake fluid or power steering fluid.

Dextron II ATF or HWH Hydraulic Fluid.
Note that the HWH Fluid is clear and won't stain carpets as badly as the red Dextron if you have a leak under the bed.

Thanks for the information. I can only find Dexron 3 or 4. Is this ok for the HWH jack oil? The HWH is about $22 a quart where the Dexron is about $10.
Thank you,
Dave

Dexron II is no longer available, it has been superceded by newer formulations, but they're all compatible. If you're paying $10 a quart for ATF, you're getting seriously f . . . I can't think of a polite word to use here. Ten dollars is absolutely outrageous. The cheapest ATF you can find is just fine. It doesn't have to endure the temps of a transmission. You shouldn't be paying more than about $3-4 a quart.

$22 a quart for HWH fluid is not right either. Just remember that if you have a small slide with the cylinder under the bed inside the coach you will have permanently red stained carpets if there is a leak while the clear HWH fluid will not stain your carpets.
PPL has it for $9.99 per quart:

I think any oil, clear or not is going to leave a stain! Oil stains are hard to wash out but then red oil stains are worse!
All our jacks are below the unit so red dye doesn't matter to us. Last I saw the HWH fluid was $4.95/qt. or about $20/gal.

My 06 Fleetwood Discovery has Powergear stabilizer jacks, and the fluid recommendations are Dexron 111 or Mercon V.
If you are going to be operating in very cold weather they have other recommendations that will provide better service.

I just went through this same thing. Make sure you find the leak and fix it.
Most of the time all you need is a wrench on the fittings.
I got a quart of DIII from Walmart for $4
