Jack, sorry you had such a hard time with the gaskets. I guess you missed my earlier post, #6 in this thread.

John,

I did see your post and I should have heeded it. It is a great idea and after doing mine without using that plan, was my own fault. I was thinking, how hard can it be? As I said watching the videos, does not take into account your valve location. Maybe you should make a "How to" video?

Thanks, Jack

If you are replacing the valve, just a small amount of contact cement on the recess side of the seals and recesses themselves works great. You have to install the seals in the recesses at least an hour before you are ready to install the new valve. The seals will never move and the contact cement is flexible so wont hinder the ability to contain 'stuff'. (I repeat, a small amount of contact cement!!!)

Next week we will be using the coach so I will see if I need to replace the gray tank valve. I checked the other day and noted no leak so far. Maybe I'm done.

When we first brought home our new to us coach, the black tank valve was leaking. I took it out and cleaned it and found a tiny hearing aid battery stuck in the groove between the seal and the blade.
After greasing the blade with Plumbers Grease (silicone) and putting everything back together I check it out and eureka it sealed. I even checked out the battery, but it was dead dead dead.

Good story. Not sure I could tell how ours failed.
