LP switch won't does not work on 12V

Hi,

I have a 2006 Jamco horse trailer with LQs. The LP switch to turn on the gas inside the LQ does not work when on 12V only (The LED does not turn on and gas is not flowing). It works perfectly fine on shore power.

The 12V system is working just fine (lights, fridge on battery, water pump). However, I can only use the gas while on shore power.

LP leak detector and CO monitor are both working (green LED on).

What should I check next? Very new to all this.

Thanks,

Nick,

Sounds like LP Switch is powered from Fused Source via Converter AND from a Fused source Directly from Battery

On shore ---DC comes from Converter
NOT on shore --- DC comes from Battery
*Check for small ga wire at Battery Post with an In-Line fuse that is blown

I'm not finding any inline fuses. Also, the wires coming and going from that switch do not look like 12V wires. These seem to be 120V wires.

Then if switch is wired with 120VAC then you can only use LP when connected to Shore Power

?????

You have Propane Cylinders on front of trailer ....CORRECT?

Where is Shutoff Solenoid located that the 'switch' operates??

Nevermind. I figured it out. That switch is not the LP switch. It's just the inside on/off switch for electric water heating. Not sure why it wasn't labeled.

My LQs do not seem to have an LP on/off switch. It's just at the tank.

Thanks for the update!

Glad you figured it out cause it just wasn't making sense

So you have an inside switch for Electric Side of water heater AND a switch for the Propane side of water heater?

Correct, the propane switch is labeled "water heater" and has a big red light that switches on and off depending on the status. Right next to it I have this unlabeled switch with a small red light that is now my inside switch for electric water heater mode (I still need to turn on electric mode outside on a small switch by the water heater).

That Outside Switch is the OEM Electric on/off switch (Suburban)
Inside switch is wired in series with outside...both have to be on
But you can leave outside on and just use inside switch
*Nice that LQ added the Inside switch

**GAS Switch ....Light is a FAULT Light
Comes on when you first turn switch on. Then goes out when flame lights off/prove it lit
Comes back on/stays on...flame failed to light
