Magnum MS2012 transfer switch

Last night the power went out in our fifth wheel and my Magnum switched over to the inverter mode and my batteries were down this morning. Is there some way to keep the transfer switch from switching over automatically?

Magnum MS2012 is an INVERTER/CHARGER not a 'transfer switch'

As long as AC Power is available the internal transfer relay allows the AC to 'pass thru'
Loss of AC Power and the internal transfer relay AUTOMATICALLY switches into Inverter Mode (Using Battery DC for AC Loads)

Turn Inverter OFF to disable auto swap to Inverter Mode

Automatic Transfer Switch swaps between AC Shore power and Generator Power........if you have an EMS you could set Gen for Auto Start if AC Shore Power is lost.

Just know that if you turn your inverter off & the shore goes out, you will have no 120V AC, meaning if you have a res fridge, it goes off also.

Better to leave it on & monitor your batt SOC, starting gen when needed.

The beauty of the inverter, is you don't notice you lost shore power. The downside, is it can run through your batteries without you knowing it is happening. My parents have experienced it. My Excel didn't have an inverter so it wasn't an issue. My Monaco has one I think the same Magnum you do. I normally leave the inverter turned off unless I need it.

Plugged in your batteries should be getting charged. If park power goes out of range so that the incoming transfer switch disconnects and the inverter goes on-line, you should have a system with enough battery capacity to get your normal at rest loads at least 8 hours of run time. 24 to 48 hours is a better plan. That lets you respond to the power outage or go to generator at your leisure.
