Massive RECALL of Propane fittings for 2021-2022
There is a massive recall coming for 22,000 RV's manufactured in 2021 and 2022. it is dangerous situation and FIRE potential. AND the recall is not coming until July and they already know about the problem! Got this from the RV Wingman.
RV manufacturers seem to be dragging their feet on the release of important safety information that could mean life or death for some of more than 20,000 RV owners. Is this some kind of a coverup or is it just another case where “covid” can be blamed? If you find this information of value, please share this video to your RVing friends and family. It could be a matter of life or death.
Burdge Law Office Co LPA
RV Recalls involve 8 RV manufacturers, 37 models, and 22,021 RVs from model years 2021 and 2022 have Dangerous RV Cracked and porous LP Gas Fittings that can lead to a fire, and they don't know it! Worse yet, almost all of the factories say they are not going to send notices to tell dealers or the public about it until July 1st. The Recalls were quietly announced but virtually all factory warning letters to the RV dealers and owners of these RVs are not even going out until July 2022, according to filings with federal safety regulators.
Meanwhile, they say 100% of certain models of Cruiser RV, DRV, Heartland, Highland Ridge, Jayco, KZRV, Thor, and Starcraft have cracked gas fittings on recall. Federal Recall personnel at NHTSA, the federal agency in charge of vehicle safety recalls, announced the fittings were made by Texas based Flex Tech, which has a plant in Goshen, IN, with contaminated brass that can result in LP gas leaks and when that happens it can lead to fire. While the brass fittings may appear perfectly normal, the contamination created "porosity" in the metal such that when you torque down the fitting, the it can crack and LP gas may escape. When one company makes the same exact part for a lot of RV manufacturers and they make it wrong, the defect can affect thousands of RV owners. The higher risk here is that recall notices are not even scheduled go out until July 1months, putting thousands of RVers at risk.
To find any recall for your RV, just do a search for your model year, make, model, and add the word "recall" or the recall number below.

Thanks for the heads up
Cracked LP Gas Quick Disconnect Fitting
Valve out your RV Propane ....remove any LP Gas Quick Disconnects...cap the line and resume using your propane system
When you get notice...have recall done

Being that it is the quick disconnect connector, which I’ve never used, as mentioned just don’t use it and your dealer will replace it when parts are available. They’re not hiding anything, they’re following Federal Law about notifying the end consumer.
But, what’s interesting is according to Federal Law, any vehicle with an open recall (unrepaired) cannot be sold by the dealer.
From NHTSA: “Please be reminded that under 49 U.S.C. § 30112(a)(3), it is illegal for a manufacturer, to sell, offer for sale, import, or introduce or deliver into interstate commerce, a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment that contains a safety defect once the manufacturer has notified NHTSA about that safety defect. This prohibition does not apply once the motor vehicle or motor vehicle equipment has been remedied according to the manufacturer's instructions.”

Q1) Is the quick disconnect only found outside the RV, for example for BBQ or other kitchen appliances?
Q2) Does this manufacture make other fittings such as elbows and valves that may have casting defects also?
NOTE: For those that are not familiar with pipe threads, they are tapered. By overnighting pipe threads one can split/crack the female fitting by expanding the fitting until it cracks (yields).
TIP: Where applicable, I use the following for fittings, it is designed to stop leaks, I have never had a fitting leak that I use this product on:

i think this picture is at least similar to the part being recalled?
https://www.mrheater.com/propane-nat...male-plug.html
While my model number is not listed in the recall, it seems similar to the one installed on my Forest River 263BHXL to provide propane to the built in outdoor grill.
It seems like, but do not quote me on any of this, that the recalled Quick Connect includes the built in shut off valve. Since cracking is an issue, I suspect that the crack occurs as described by @Fridge_Defend. As such, the valve is after the leak in the line so closing the valve would not stop the leak.

Let common sense prevail. Just don't use the affected part and danger is avoided.
This particular notice smacks of an ambulance chaser law firm.

Thanks for posting KingCruzer. No need to put Covid in quotes as unfortunately it is real and has had real effects on a lot of things across the world. We can save the conspiracies for another place, this isn't 4Chan or 8Chan.
Anyway, I think amxpress is more onto something. Delaying public knowledge of a known issue with recalls is not uncommon, as it's a balancing act. In this case, manufacturers and dealers have a vested interest in repairing units sitting on a lot first since they wouldn't be able to sell them otherwise. If there is a rush of customers who already gave them money all fighting for limited mechanic time and parts then you see where they would feel stuck.
All of these parts look the same or similar so it really comes down to the supplier the manufacturer used and the dates of production, since it's an issue with the brass itself (not how it is mounted, or sealed). RVMiles and others have links to parts from other suppliers that are not affected.

It also affects some Forest River models. Here is one: https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2022/F...HAULER#recalls
Click the + sign and you'll see that almost 100,000 Forest River RV's are potentially affected, so far:
"Potential Number of Units Affected 98,406
Summary
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Coachmen Adrenaline, Apex, Catalina, Freedom Express, Spirit, East to West Alta, Della Terra, Silver Lake, Forest River Cedar Creek, Cherokee, Columbus, Flagstaff, Impression, Ozark, Rockwood, Sabre, Salem, Sandstorm, Shockwave, Stealth, Stealth Evo, Vengeance, Vibe, Wildwood, XLR Toyhauler, Palomino Puma, Prime Time Avenger, Crusader, Lacrosse, Sanibel, Shasta Oasis, 2022 Coachmen Cross Trail, Prism, Forest River Aurora, Rainier, Wildcat, Work and Play, Prime Time Tracer, 2021-2023 Coachmen Leprechaun, and 2022-2023 Coachmen Freelander fifth wheel and travel trailer recreational vehicles.
The quick disconnect fittings in the LP gas system may be cracked, causing a gas leak."
Click on "6 Associated Documents" and you'll see the attached PDFs. This one seems to indicate that FR actually is the company that originally found the problem and kicked off the recall for everyone:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/202...2V243-8461.pdf
Second paragraph:
"On March 30, 2022, OCC visited the partner suppliers manufacturing plant in Goshen, Indiana. OCC was given a plant tour and offered feedback to the supplier. One thing in particular was noticed, an employee of the partner supplier was using an air ratchet to assemble a pipe nipple into the QD. OCC then witnessed another employee use a wrench on the body of the QD and thread it into an aluminum manifold block. When OCC questioned this procedure, OCC was told the assembler was supposed to use the pipe nipple to thread the QD into the manifold. Discussion of the possibility of the QD being over torqued by the air ratchet was had with the supplier. "
573 Reports are the notice of the defect. They often are revised so you just need to look at the higher revision. Most often the recall is expanded as more are found.
Hope this helps.

For the record I di not put COVID in quotes! It was Burdge Law Office Co LPA the person who broke the story.
