Micro Air Thermostat Hysteresis Setting
Newly installed Micro Air thermostat. I have a gas furnace and a single ac. No other heat sources/modes. The hysteresis setting is set to 1 degree with a set point of 70 degrees. When the temperature falls to 68 degrees, the temp display digits turn red (I think this means it is calling for heat), but the furnace does not come on until the temperature falls to 66 degrees or 4 below set point. The furnace shuts off at 71 degrees and the digits return to white.
Every system is working but the wife and I find 4 degrees below set point to be a bit extreme and would like to narrow this gap. Any ideas why the thermostat is behaving as it is or how to remedy?
Thanks
CB

I would recommend downloading the MicroAir Operating Manual PDF from their website. The 4 second thing is mentioned in that manual but depends on other factors which are confusing to me this AM, I'm going to defer to your reading of the manual.
I've had 3 of those thermostats so far and the first two the Bluetooth and the Wifi both failed within a few weeks of install. First the BT would stop working, then later the Wifi. They have a 2 year warranty (or did when I purchased mine) and they sent me new ones without issue and don't ask for the bad ones back.
In addition, I have a basement 2-ton heat pump and contacted their support because the MicroAir would shut down the compressors and fans, than a couple seconds later re-energize them, only to shut them down again a few seconds after that. That double bump (On-Off-On in short order) is very bad for heavy equipment like heat pumps so I have asked they change their firmware to eliminate that. My one year old replacement heat pump (purchased new, installed in June '23) failed earlier this year (May '24) and though I can't trace the problem directly to the MicroAir, I have a strong suspicion it contributed. I just recently got a warranty replacement heat pump installed and I've hesitated installing the 3rd MicroAir so far so haven't tested if they did change the firmware.
Since you just got your MicroAir, I'm wondering if you saw that double bump occur with your AC, or gas furnace? BTW, I think the MircroAir device is great, and I hope they improved the firmware...if not, I'll design an aux circuit to eliminate the double bump. Maybe I'll suck it up and test this new one and come back with the results. It's only fair.

I think you may have miss-read me. I have a problem with a 4 DEGREE delay, not a 4 second delay. I have no double bump.

Don't think so, I understood what you were saying...I mentioned the Operators PDF because that talks about a 4 degree thingy but I mistyped 4 seconds. Sorry.
Good to hear you don't have the dbl pump business.

I also just purchased a Micro-Air thermostat and have somewhat the same issue. The thermostat will not shut of the fan, even it it is shut off. When it does it cycles the heat pump on and off- sometime after a few minutes and sometimes after 10 or so minutes. Just when I believe the problem is solved the fan comes on again. Micro-Air sent a new thermostat, it works the same. I’m at a loss and am considering installing the original Coleman/Mack unit. Any help will be greatly appreciate.
