Microwave and vent-a-hood question

We need to replace our Apollo Half Time Convection/Microwave unit. It appears to be a counter unit that was been installed in a large metal box that has a a vent-a-hood. This box is mounted to a metal plate above the range. We removed the metal box from the wall. However, we have been unsuccessful in removing the unit out of the metal box so as to replace it. Has anyone had a similar situation? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Margie,

I removed mine a couple of years ago, in my case, there were a few sheet metal screws on the back of the MW that attached it to the metal enclosure.

Be sure to install a built in unit and not a counter top unit unless a built in kit is available and can be attached for proper ventilation.

Thank you for the responses. We are going to look for a built-in microwave with a vent-a-hood to replace our unit. Not any easy task!
