Need MOV for Parallax Power Converter

Need a MOV for a Parallax Power converter model 7345RU. The part #is FH-R515 and is toast. Does anyone know where I can get one. This is probably only a $3.00 part. Any and all help will be appreciated.
Thanks

I was going to suggest Digikey but I just did a search on their site and it does not come up.

I also did a Google on the part number and there are lots of hits from others looking for the same item.

I have to go to the doctor right now but I will do some additional snooping when I get back if you don't have any Google Luck!!

Thanks Ray,
I didn't have any luck on Google either. You would think that this part would be that hard to find.

I got back from the doc and started searching.

Lot's of dead end threads on other RV sites but no source for the part YET!

Seems to be a common problem.

I sent an email to a friend of mine that is a manager for Hutton up here in Canada. Between the two of us, we will find it! I just haven't looked in the right place yet.

Newark has a bunch of them TVS - Varistors, MOVs & MLVs | Newark.com

You will have to make some decisions about size, clamping voltage, current capacity and so forth to pick one though.
I would think about 18 volts and a few amps would work.

Most transients in the vehicle system are pretty short and don't contain much energy except for alternator load dumps which can last over 100 milliseconds as I recall.

I am sure glad that you found that site. I was just about Googled out!

Thanks Ray and Clay,
Thanks for the information, I'll give that site a visit and see what I can up with. I have to take a trip so I'll be awhile before I can do it. I'll let you know what the final outcome is.

Problem solved

The part that I thought was a MOV turned out to be a NTC Thermistor. The values are 2 ohm and 18 amp. I ordered 2 from Newark.com. Lets hope this fixes the problem. Thanks again for the help.

Glad you figured it out!

I wonder if some of the other people that had posted on other forums about the same part number figured it out?

I have the exact same problem - burned out a FH-R515 Thermistor. Having some problem figuring out which part number to buy at Newark.com. Can you give me the part number and did this solve your problem?

In 20 years of electronics, never heard of a thermistor with a current rating like that.
