New Member with Electrical System issue
Greetings All. My wife and I just went full time recently. For the most part we haven’t really had too many problems that weren’t fairly straight forward. But now, I have an issue I am at a loss to solve. If anyone can suggest a solution or path to follow, I’d appreciate it.
2001 Fleetwood American Tradition with Onan Generator.
Generator starts and runs no problem... however, it’s output is not making it to the 120v system. AC’s, refrigerator and electric water heater all work fine when connected to shore power, but nothing is getting power from the generator when we are disconnected from shore and trying to cool the rig interior with the power from the generator. None of the 120v circuits are ‘hot’ when only on generator.
I’ve checked all breakers. None tripped. GFCI appears normal and untripped. I am not experienced enough with the rig to know what to look for next.
Any suggestions.

Did you check the breaker on the generator?
Have you checked the breakers on the inverter?
Have you given the transfer switch a little "love" tap?
I would suspect the transfer switch.

Sorry you're here with problems .
There is a circuit breaker on the gen set that needs to be checked .
Then if your gen set, used to power the coach but now doesn't , your going to have to find the " auto transfer " switch , it's where the power cable from the gen set and the shore power cord meet , and can be in the shore cord bay.
If this is the first time you've tried the genset , you may not have a transfer switch , and there should be an outlet in the power cord bay to plug the power cord into to power the coach from the gen set.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!
Congrats on the fulltiming! I agree with the others that it sounds like the breaker on the generator!
Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

What Skip said. Check one thing at a time and retest. That way next time it happens, and it likely will, you will know why.
