Norcold 1200 repair....
We have now joined the NOCOLD party. All systems work as they should; except no cooling, suspect plugged up tubes. Moving on...... I DO NOT want to go to a res fridge, so, I am looking at the various replacement cooling units on the market. Does anyone have experience with RVCOOL's new replacement unit? or any comments on the others? (Amish, etc.). Any good/bad experience doing the swap? Tips? Any and all will be appreciated. THX TB

Two and a half years ago, I replaced my Norcold 1200 cooling unit with an Amish unit from RVCoolingunit.com. I was extremely satisfied with the quality of the construction, the ease of replacement and the much better cooling than the original. It was still working great when we traded the Itasca off last month.
PM me if you have any specific questions about the install. I did it by myself in about 5 hours, but it would be easier with two people.

I put in an Amish cooling unit last year and it has worked well. I do not think it is as efficient as the Norcold because of heavier tubing, etc., but they have added a second loop of condensing coils which must make up the difference. The unit is ruggedly made and a good bit heavier than the Norcold. I would do it again.
BTW, I recommend you get the internal cooling fin fan(s). I added two and it seems to make the unit work better and I do not get an accumulation of frost on the fins like I did before.

Where are you located? I just pulled my 1200 out of the RV today. It's in my garage and has a two-year-old AMISH cooling unit. The dinosaur board is bad but everything else works great. I am going residential.

I sent you a PM, maybe it didn't go through? What would it take to get that fridge, or at least the AMISH unit from your garage to mine?

Back to the ORIGINAL question... Any rebuilt OEM cooling unit DOES NOT get rid of the Norcold "idiot box" requirement. The Amish unit DOES. We've installed 2 Amish units (ours & a friends) and would do it again...
FYI - The empty frig weighs 220 lbs
