Norcold 1201 LRIM fridge 38-39 freezer 20
My Norcold 1201 LRIM fridge is at 38-39 but the freezer stays at 20, will not go lower. tried different temp settings and it makes the fridge go up and down but freezer stays at 20. Got a new Dinosaur board in it. Old one was bad and would not let it run on LP. Suggestions?

Eric:
Before you do anything check the calibration on the thermometer you are using. I had the round type in the fridge and found out it was 10 degrees off on the warm side. I went to wireless thermometers and got more accurate readings. The round ones are not dependable.

Actually I am using wireless thermometers. I have switched the 2 to check if maybe the one in the freezer is off. I'll know when I get home after work. Sounds like both of us thought of a bad thermometer. seems to make sense but with the digital wireless probably not but we gotta check the easy stuff first. 8-)

lajuene, Can you hear the cooling fans on the back of the fridge running? Also, how hot is it there today? The freezer should be no hotter than 10 degrees when working properly.

Hi Mike, Thanks to you getting my butt off the couch, my Norcold has been working great since the Amish conversion. Great idea to check the screws.

OK so it's all fine now. IT WAS THE THERMOMETER. It's digital and it was stuck on 20 degrees so I reset it and it immediately went down to 11 and was still falling. so all is well now. I swapped out the alkaline batteries for lithium as the thermometer manufacturer suggests for the freezer unit 9I did for both). Maybe the alkaline in the freezer is what was making the therm. stick at 20. I love this therm. set. Here is the one I'm using.

Looks like the Norcold journey is over (for now).

Sammie - Yes the fans are running. Took a while to confirm that. every time i checked they were off. From a suggestion, I used a hair drier to raise the temp to force them to go on. Now since, I've heard them run on their own anyway.

How has your Chaney unit worked for you so far?

it's working fine. It's nice to just glance at the thing on the counter and know it's all ok. Freezer runs a bit too warm when ice maker is working but I think it's the room temperature water filling the ice tray that does that. it goes back down when no ice is being made.

Your ice maker has a heating element in the bottom that warms the ice so it can dump. That will raise your temp.

Thanks, I didn't know that. That makes sense then.
