Exclamation Norcold Fridge

We have a Norwood 4 door Fridge/Freezer, it worked fine when we used it a few weeks ago, shut it off and turned it back on 2 weeks later to use and noticed the fridge is staying around 50 degrees on electric power and about 40 degrees on LP. Freezer seems to be working fine. We are level and it hasn’t thrown any codes. What could the issue be or what she we check. TIA!!!

How long has it been turned on? It can take 24-48 hours to completely cool down. The freezer always cools first, then the fridge part.

When we are starting our refrigerator after being off for awhile we always freeze(in home frig) as many water/soda etc. bottles as possible and place them in the freezer and frig compartments while the frig is cooling. Seems to help make the process faster. Also, I have place a frig fan in the interior to help circulate the cooler air...

Disconnect the thermistor leads and try running w/o it.
Freezer and food compartments should get COLD if thermistor is bad

IF still not cooling......could be cooling unit or circuit board issue
'Force cool' test will check the cooling units ability to function

Not to be an idiot but what is a force cool test? Is that disconnecting the thermistor?

Do you know if this fridge is original to your coach ?

15 years old now.

Have you looked in the lower outside vent for any sign of a yellowish powder , at the base of the chimney ?

Roughly every 48-49 hrs ....food compartment temp to 50*F
Timeline can be changed by when you turn fridge off then back on
*turn fridge off/back on at 11pm so 'frost management system' occurs at night vs hot time of day

Force Cool test

Turn fridge off, unplug AC Power cord, Unplug AC heater element leads from lower circuit board and plug them directly into the 120VAC Outlet
Elements remain energized Force Cooling fridge IF cooling unit is capable of function (no blockages)
****Bypasses ALL Controls so monitor closely during the 12hr test

First would be to unplug thermistor causing fridge to run w/o temp sensing. BOS (Backup Operating System)
Then if not cooling down move on to force cooling test

IF fridge cools down w/o thermistor....bad thermistor
If fridge cools down force cooling...then circuit board is the problem
If fridge doesn't cool down....cooling unit is toast

Thanks, OB. My Norcold still works great, but I know that it won't always and more info is always better than less.

1) What is the ambient temperature you are using the fridge at?

That is, was it cooler when it worked fine, and hot when is warmed inside the fridge?

2) Is your fridge a side vent, or a roof vent?

If your 4 door Norcold, which would be either an N1210 or N2118 is not functioning in warm weather, check out our fan controller. It solves the inherent venting issues for the Norcold 4-door fridge.

Let us know if we can be of further help
