Norcold N10DCSSR Fridge Not Cooling

This fridge came with my buddy's 2021 RV and it stopped getting cold recently. He bought a new one and gave me this one since he knows I like to tinker. I wired it to my battery bank to see what the deal was. Fridge turns on, compressor starts up, condenser fan is blowing, I hear a fluid percolating noise from inside the walls of the fridge. I let it run for about 8 hours and neither the fridge nor the freezer got cold. I looked inside the control module and all solder points and components look pristine. Checked out the smaller control board up top with the buttons for changing settings and didn't notice anything strange there either. I did notice the condenser coils were very cold all the way up the back of the fridge. I believe these should be warm correct? The refrigerant should be in its warmer gas state here and the coils are used to cool it? I did notice where the tubes are raw copper around the compressor area and near the magnet valve there is corrosion. I sprayed soapy water around those areas while the compressor was going to see if I could see any leaks/bubbles but couldn't find anything. I'm a bit at a loss. I haven't found many people trouble shooting this model online so I figured Id see if there was anyone out there with some ideas. Most common ideas seem to be a faulty control module. I'm curious if anyone knows what actually goes out on those things because Id love to use my multimeter to test it. Would be sad to dispose of a $1500 fridge thats only a year old!

Corrosion? I'm guessing there was a coolant leak.

Yeah you might be right, the gurgling sound throughout the fridge gave me hope that was the coolant flowing. Oh well!

Symptoms indicates leak -- low pressure. I know of a number of these fridge fail for customers after short time in RV.

Maybe you should give it back to him....he files warranty replacement then will have a backup fridge when the new one fails

I agree fully, at this point a spare is needed. I cannot help but brag about our 80 year old Servel refrigerators, in the 30s they were expensive. But, they are not in a dump, this is true environmental conservation , what a value!

Thumbs down Never have I ever...

come across an unreliable fridge like my 2019 Bay Star has with this Norcold NA10 LXIM in my coach. Never. From a 1985 Travelcraft C, and a '04 Sunseeker C, a '13 Coachman Leprechaun, refrigerator problems were never on my radar. Now we have a '19 Bay Star purchased new in early 2020. It's been stored covered, ready to un winterize and go. except this year. Fridge isn't cooling. Freezer/Icemaker are fine. First trip out almost everything in the cooled portion was ruined. Meat, cheese, fresh veggies..wasted. Now I read all about Norcold. And we are seasonal campers, so it's not a question of constant use (although that shouldn't make a difference). So far, I've thrown a thermistor at it to no avail, and today I replaced the control board. I must admit, my expectations are low moving forward. I'll check it again in a couple of days, but there should be a law about this poor workmanship. really.

I'm also have this issue... Installed mine in Aug 2021, we did a defrost (usually done every 3 months for frost buildup) in July/Aug of this year (2022) and ever since have been having the running water sounds, compressor running most of the time and the fridge struggling to maintain upper 30's and usually in the lower 40's. Previous to this it's been solid, freezer at -5 to 0, fridge at 33/34 in all weather. I just swapped out the control module, but not seeing a change yet. Hoping that some one shares what their fixes and outcomes were.

The service manual posted above has testing procedures.
