Norcold N822 Class Action Lawsuit

Sorry if this has been covered but I can't find the information. I have a Norcold N822 and it fits int he manufactured date of the Norcold Class Action Lawsuit. I have filed a claim online.

HOWEVER, the more important question has to do with safety. Is it safe? Has Norcold done a recall on the N822? Mine was manufactured during the window of the class action suit.

We have had the unit about 2 years and have had no problems with the fridge.

Thanks

There is a recall kit. Any local service center should be able to install it in less than half an hour and is no cost to you.

I had a Montana 5th wheel and it had the kit installed at purchase (new in 2012) as I suspect my current model A822 (new in 2014) did (I don't know how to check for sure).

But the class action lawsuit does not mention as to if that kit has been installed? And in the serial number range so of them would have already had the kit?

How do I know if mine current model has been fitted with the kit? I wonder if Norcold has a serial number listing?

According to the web page of the class action lawsuit I will be entitled to "3 shares" for the Norcold 1200 I had and "5 shares" for the current model A822 I have. Anyone have experience with this class action lawsuit?

And anyone know how I can tell if my current model has been fitted with the safety upgrade?

Class Action

OK - thanks for the help so far. But here is what I am trying to find out:

* The units that were recalled for the retro fit kit is understandable.
* However, the class action lawsuit appears to include units (like my 2 year old unit) that is well beyond the serial numbers of the units that needed the retro kit.

So, the units that are covered by the class action lawsuit should certainly have the kits installed at the factory or other modifications to negate the need for the kit! That is my confusion.

Perhaps the lawsuit is just "opportunity" by the lawyers and Norcold is not taking any responsibility for the units covered in the lawsuit claiming they are fine but still agreed to the class action to avoid even more legal fees?

My N822 was manufactured in August of 2013 and the lawsuit covers that unit (and other units up to manufacture date of Dec 31, 2013).

The below is copied from the lawsuit page: (included in lawsuit)

"Currently own a Norcold N6 Series Gas Absorption Refrigerator or Cooling Unit, or a Norcold N8 Series Gas Absorption Refrigerator or Cooling Unit, that was manufactured between January 1, 2009, and December 31, 2013."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But from the Norcold pages the recall only covers other units and NO recall information on the model N822 that I can find.

Anyone understand all of this?
