Norcold refer problem
I took my RV in because refrigerator was not working. The recall box got wet
when the ice maker line came loose. The repair center said before replacing the recall switch they had to do a soft test. They told me that Norcold told
them that if the back of the refer was soft that it was DOA. What is a soft
test does anybody know. The replacement for model 1200 is a 1210 and the cost would be $5800,00, ouch. Need some advise.

Here is a lot of reading on this subject https://www.google.com/search?q=amis...earch=irv2.com for you to read through and be able to make a decision on what course to take. You will see a guys name mentioned being David Force and he owns the place where you can buy a new cooling unit, and after doing some reading, you will more than likely be able to find someone to do the install for you if you are not able to do it.

I have never heard of a soft test and it makes no sense to me either.
I have just had my Norcold out and as I see it there is nothing that can't be repaired.
You can always replace the existing cooling unit, and my recommondation would be an Amish build unit. RV Cooling Unit Warehouse LLC Home Page
Call them and ask for David. He will guide you and provide EXCELLENT service. I have done this several times and his service is second to none.

A soft test is nothing that Norcold has ever instructed me to do. I think they don't know what they're talking about.

If getting wet is the reason for the red light on your recall box, it is an easy reset. If overtemp is the reason then replace with an Amish cooling unit mentioned above.
Do a forum search for instructions on how to reset the recall box with a magnet.

Maybe they want to do a reset of the recall box? They just use a strong magnet...

If you reset the box, you need to get a litmus paper strip and test for the presence of ammonia around the boiler.
