Onan 5.5 HGJABB error code 15

MH has been sitting for about 8 months. Now generator gives error code 15.

Error 15 says Engine governor unable to maintain rated frequency

Gas tank is 3/4 full,
Removed and cleaned carburetor
Replaced plugs (the engineer that put the right plug behind that pipe should be shot)
Have tried with both gen switches on and off

It will start and run for a while, sometimes with the light on solid, and other times it is flashing When it is running it is really rough and sometimes spits some gas out the carb.

I really feel if the engine ran good it would work, but I am getting stumped. Any suggestions or help appreciated

My experience

I replaced the fuel pump in mine about 6 months ago. It was easy except for the mounting bracket was in the wrong place. I got the pump from Amazon for about $20.

Before the new pump it would run for 10 to 15 minutes, then struggle for a few seconds, then die. It was an unspecified error code. I forget which one. Now it runs nicely.

Thanks for the reply Larry Mars. I had unhooked the fuel line, and ran the primer, and the flow was strong, almost seemed to strong for the float needle. Also, when the gen does run, it runs the best if I manually pull the choke open, so that is telling me it is running rich?

Hopefully this manual is the correct one for your model
It's supposed to be the Onan service manual.

Thanks Carl,

Most of the electrical is over my head, but I was wondering if there is a way to download that so I can study it in Acrobat Reader

Thanks

Thanks
I think if you open then click on the 3 squares top right.
Then copy link to your reader.
Adobe may work

You can call Onan corporate customer service at
1 800-286-6467. There tech support was fantastic help.
Do not call a dealership they're going to have you go in for service.
Cummins power of Tampa FL quoted me 2600.00 to fix my 5500 lp Marquis.
I fixed it for about 700 to $750. I replaced the stator rotor assembly.
You can try cleaning up the electric connections. Pull them off 1 bye 1. Spray with electric contact cleaner and coat with dialectic gel. Make sure you put the wires back in the exact location.
Disconnect all Ac/DC power
Good luck
Have your model serial number when you call.
